Western Foothills Land Trust is a community & donor-driven organization supporting the health, habitat, and cultural heritage of the western Maine region. The Trust manages recreational trails on its preserves and collaborates within its community to create healthy opportunities through programs, events, and recreation opportunities.

* Build and maintain over 35 miles of recreational trails
* Provide free programming year-round for all ages and abilities
* Support the local community's health and wellness through recreation
* Offer free use of Nordic ski & snowshoe equipment at Roberts Farm Preserve

Monthly Giving

Join Heartwood, our monthly giving program. You set the amount, and we will send you a tax letter detailing your entire year's contributions.

Charitable Contributions From Your IRA

If you are 72.5 years or older, you can make a tax free contribution to the Trust from your IRA. Contact your financial advisor to learn more.

Stock and Mutual Funds

Many companies offer matching programs for their employees charitable giving. Contact your HR director FMI.

Endowments & Bequests

Gifts of those who include Western Foothills Land Trust in their estate planning can make a valuable contribution while taking advantage of federal and state tax laws that may allow reduction of income taxes, lower gift, and estate taxes, or provide income during the donor's lifetime.

Some of the possibilities include a bequest through a will or trust; naming Western Foothills Land Trust as the beneficiary of property, valuable collections, an insurance policy or retirement plan; a charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust; and a pooled income fund.
